Take the train to Füssen (approximately 2 hours), then 10-minute bus to Hohenschwangau. From there, either 40 minute walk or shuttle bus to the castle itself.

There are 2 castles and a museum in Hohenschwagengau.
The more famous is Castle Neuschwanstein. The other is Castle Hohenschwangau.

16th Century Castle, acquired by King Maximilian II and rebuilt in neo-Gothic style. Used by Bavarian royal family as summer and hunting residence. Official tourist info: link.
Built for Bavarian King Ludwig II in 1868, never completed. Built and furnished in medieval forms, but with then-modern technology. This castle inspired Walt Disney's vision of Sleeping Beauty's castle. Official tourist info: link.
